Apple ipad - Technology - Electronics

I was very indecisive when buying iPad. I didn't know if I would use it, indeed if it was any good. In addition, I couldn't decide which to get, 32gb or 64gb, 3G or no 3G? In the end I went for 64gb with 3G, simply because I thought, if I was going to buy something so expensive, I may as well do it properly. I didn't want to regret not having that extra memory if I needed it. Similarly with 3G

Let me make one thing clear, the iPad is far from an essential buy, nor is it perfect. A lack of flash, USB ports webcam etc have all been cited as reasons not to buy one, but I would disagree. I haven't missed these features. I said earlier it wasn't essential, but once you have one, you will not be able to live without it. It is a truly exceptional product. For browsing, it is unbeatable. The Internet experience has never felt so easy, so natural. Typing on the ipad is easy, this review is being typed on one, and I am almost as fast on an iPad keyboard as a laptop keyboard, in fact I would say it is probably easier. Much like an iPhone, a virtual keyboard is something you will get used to very fast.

Video on the ipad is truly magnificent. Whilst iTunes only supports a narrow selection of video formats, apps such as VLC player and CineXplayer, both free, almost eliminate any video compatibility issues. Watching films and tv shows on the iPad is a great experience, the screen is crystal clear.

Reading ebooks is also a good experience. Personally LCD doesn't hurt my eyes at all, I could read on this thing all day! However, reading in bright sunlight can be difficult, but this problem very rarely arises for me. I don't use the device as an iPod, I have music on it but it's usefulness as an iPad is not something I can comment on. The ipad user face is nice, that's all I can say really.

Apps on the device are brilliant, the huge selection of apps will keep you busy for a long time. The pages and numbers apps make this a decent device for work as well as fun, a lack of printing is an annoying oversight, but this will Be addressed in the os4 upgrade in November.. Many people compare this to a net book. In my opinion there is no competition, net books are clunky, unfashionable and kind of boring, the iPad is none of these things. It is a revolutionary device, a gadget that I use every day. Net books are cheaper, but to be honest I have not regretted for one second choosing the iPad over any net book. The memory is limited, annoyingly so, but 64gb is a decent enough amount. I don't use the 3G much, but I wouldn't want to be without it just incase, not having it limits the device to the home, which for me is just impractical.

Undoubtedly you are paying a premium for the apple logo on the back, but this product is more than just a brand, it is a whole new market, the iPad has created, and will almost certainly dominate, the tablet market. Net books are out! The lack of multiple tasking is a serious oversight, but will again be addressed by OS4 update in November.

I have spoken to many people who have used the ipad for ten minutes, even an hour, and they don't see what is great about it, but give yourself a day with it and you will never let it go. All the mockers, who call me fanboys are foolish, this products does what it is designed to do very well, And if having one makes me a fanboys then fine, because all those not buying one just because it's apple are seriously missing out. No other tablet come's close, the samsung galaxy tab and blackberry playbook are pathetic compared to theiPad, they are too small, not as easy to use.

The price of the product is undoubtedly high, but it's not unrealistic, it's a reasonable price for what is a brilliant product. I would recommend it to anyone, you will soon find yourself using it more than your laptop or computer, you will bring it everywhere if you are anything like me! Don't buy it from amazon, it's cheaper from apple, but if you are on the fence, take the plunge, i seriously doubt you will regret it.
