It is always cheaper to buy directly in stores in India in any city (Mumbai, Bangalore, Hyderabad, Chennai, Ahmedabad) rather than to buy online when you can spare time. Prices can vary from store to store and offers can change from festival days (Dussera, Diwali, Sankranti, Pongal, Ugadi, New Year, Christmal, etc.) to non-festival days. You will also be able to get a hands on experience before buying the product if that is new for you.

I have been noticing that some electronic or consumer electronic stores are selling these goods at same price as market price (other electronic stores) but place a higher MRP tag and an offer price tag showing a discount. It helps to check several stores to get a good idea of current prices in the market before deciding to buy. It applies to online shopping as well.

Iphone 4 Review: 1 - Hardware Fit & Finish

Apple's chief executive Steve Jobs called iPhone 4 the biggest leap yet for the company's smartphone franchise, and he wasn't just blowing the hot air. There's a lot to like about iPhone 4. From its slim design to its precision chassis to its fantastic display, the hardware looks and feels excellent. Unlike previous iPhones, there's no cheap plastic back cover. Unlike other smartphone alternatives, there's no array of buttons to keep track of, no rubber flaps or plastic covers to break off or wear out, and no pointer device needed to make up for a haphazard and flawed touch interface.

After the impressive design of the original iPhone, 2008's iPhone 3G introduced a cheaper looking plastic case, along with support for 3G and GPS, two of the most significant features missing on the original. iPhone 3GS brought improved speed with a faster Application Processor and more RAM, but retained that same cheap looking plastic body.

iPhone 4 smokes previous models inside and out, launching a new industrial design that isn't just nicer looking than the previous two plastic generations, but feels downright luxurious, with a mirrored glass front and back sandwiching a very thin, precision stainless steel body.

This is a fierce bit of kit

The new phone demands a sense of reverence, as if you're almost unworthy to use it. We mortals will instantly grease up both sides with our oily fingerprints, and if we're clumsy enough, we might drop or lose it unless we handle iPhone 4 as The Precious on our quest to make it through the day without nicking it up somehow. Jobs said the new device feels like an old Leica camera, and that's seems pretty spot on. It's not just nice looking, but exudes extremely sharp fit and finish unlike nearly any other consumer device I've recently come across.

Part of the reason for that is that everything else in the world is marching toward being efficiently cheap. When iPhone 3G appeared, I noted that despite its vulgar cheapness, the new design would enabling Apple to reach a wider, broader audience. This time around, Apple is wooing smartphone users upscale, but without jacking up the price.

This direction goes distinctly against the grain of consumer gear in general and smartphones specifically, which have been plunging toward cheap materials with simply styled plastic battery covers, rows of clunky buttons, and tacky light up trackballs. iPhone 4 looks like a a high end Sony design taken from the 80s and evolved along into an upscale luxury brand. Apple isn't just giving the iPhone 3GS a makeover; the new model humiliates the former, making it feel and look clunky, dumpy, and frumpy.

The only time you might prefer owning an iPhone 3GS is when you catch yourself watching in horror as your new iPhone 4 escapes your grasp and hurls toward the floor, as its new glass panel back is now just as easy to shatter as its front. If you find yourself dropping your phone a lot, do yourself a favor and get a case for it.

Is that $700 in your pocket?

The fit and finish and the appearance of every detail of the phone, from its headphone jack to its camera port, and from its volume buttons to its hold switch, is simply luxurious and precise in a way I have rarely seen in a consumer device. Of course, the iPhone 4 is also roughly $700, before your carrier's subsidy kicks in and brings the entry price to around $300. If you think about the device as a $700 bit of equipment, it will impact how you handle it, who you allow to use it, and where you choose to pull it out.

Apple's new iPhone isn't unique in its price; every other comparable smartphone costs about the same thing. But the company has really raised the bar in terms of what users should expect in build quality and design savvy. HTC's Droid Incredible and EVO 4G and Motorola's Droid X really look cheap and unsophisticated compared to iPhone 4 (as does Apple's own iPhone 3GS), yet they all still cost around $700 without that subsidy. If they wore real price tags, Verizon and Sprint probably wouldn't be able to sell very many.

In the auto market, there's a broad range of vehicle choices available to serve users, from the very expensive luxury high end to the simple, but much cheaper cars on the low end. In smartphones, there's now a wide range of quality, but there's no real difference in price.

That reality also has no precedent in the PC arena, where there has always been Apple on the high end opposed to cheap PC offerings, a large chunk of which cost much less because they delivered a lot less. The problem facing Apple's iPhone competitors is that smartphones can't get dramatically cheaper, because carrier subsidies hide a great deal of any price difference, ensuring that the entry price for consumers isn't very significant.

Were Apple, HTC and others duking it out over phones ranging from $99 to $700 at retail, Apple would have a much harder time introducing such a high end device to such ecstatic crowds of buyers. Incidentally, that issue is also why Apple can't really translate its iPhone success into the TV set top box market.

In between however, Apple has also introduced iPad as a very competitive tablet with no real rival, and the iPod touch as a similarly undisputed leader in the nearly uncontested market for sophisticated media players. The success of those products has leveraged Apple's success in smartphones, as the profitability of the iPhone has created economies of scale that have enabled Apple to sell the iPod touch for as little as $200 and iPads for $500, both far less than the real cost of iPhone 4.

And then you turn it on: Retina Display

I prepared myself for a mind-blowing screen, but all I saw was the same thing, an awful lot sharper. On the Retina Display of iPhone 4, text pops. Graphics and photos sizzle. But there's nothing that feels unexpected when you look at the screen. It seems both impressive and ordinary. Then I looked back at the iPhone 3GS screen and remembered how things were before iPhone 4.

Oh yes, the magic is there: the Retina Display is phenomenal. But like a boost in CPU speed or some more RAM, once you glance at the 960x640 pixel, 326 ppi resolution of the iPhone 4 screen your eyes establish a new baseline of normal. This looks the way the screen is now supposed to look.

The new display appears to be significantly less bright than the iPhone 3GS, but in my efforts to compare the two, it seems like the perceived brightness of the previous model is in part due to its softer, blurrier appearance. The Retina Display is razor sharp. No really; I never noticed a real problem with the iPhone's resolution before, but the new screen is simply amazing when you focus on details, especially in comparison with previous models. It is exacting and precise.

It truly does look like the output of a color laser printer, albeit using glossy paper that magically glows. Twenty years ago, I was transfixed by the sharp black text spit out of Apple's original LaserWriter. Now, I have a dynamic color screen that fits in my pocket, and that screen has an even higher resolution. This is definitely some crazy futuristic stuff, but it's now, immediately, the new normal.

As for performance, while being slightly less bright, the screen is not just dramatically sharper than previous iPhones, but also sports wider viewing angles, both side to side and up and down. It performs very similar to the IPS displays in the latest MacBook Pros, although again, the ppi of the Retina Display is approaching a pixel density three times as high (Apple's 17 inch notebook is 117 ppi vs iPhone 4 at 326 ppi).

For all the pre-launch hysteria about how Apple was exaggerating and misstating its resolution in comparison to the human retina, the new screen isn't anything approaching an inflated bit of marketing noise; it's the real deal. It will ruin your retinas for ever returning to a lower resolution screen however.

So far, apart from those that have already dropped theirs, or a small number of people who have received defective units, build issues have largely been constrained to a temporary spotting issue that seems to resolve itself. There are however other issues with iPhone 4, and they relate to its most important function: calling.

Issues related to antenna signal (both actual performance and the reported signal meter), proximity sensors (for blanking the phone's screen while you have it next to your face talking), and calling features will be outlined in part 2, focusing on the Phone and FaceTime.

Getting an iPhone Upgrade for Free (Even Under Contract)!

Every time a new iPhone comes out, previous iPhone owners feel cheated. They're no longer on the cutting edge. Try Googling the phrase "I just bought my iPhone" and you'll see what I mean. While the secrecy of Apple product launches has always caused this problem, it has been compounded as of late due to phone contracts. If you're the kind of person who always upgrades to the latest model, you're going to pay more for the phone because of the terms of your contract. Here's what you can do about it: Get your current phone to sell on ebay in order to fully pay for a new one. You probably thought it wouldn't sell for that much, but these steps will show you otherwise.

Brand new phones sell on eBay much better than used ones. If there's is a defect in your phone that the Apple store can't fix, they will replace it for free. If you've spent any time at the Genius Bar watching repairs, you'll notice they swap out far more iphones than they actually fix. Maybe the screen has some burn in, the battery life doesn't hold up, or the headphone jack is acting strange. If you're having any kind of problem at all, bring your phone to the Apple. They'll fix it for free or they'll give you a new one. Either way you're better off than before.

Before you try to sell on eBay, unlock that phone for other carriers! This process (known as Jailbreaking) will allow the phone to work with any GSM carrier that supports SIM cards. This is the real trick to getting a good price for your phone. It'll increase demand and boost the amount of bids tremendously. You'll even open up the possibility of international bidders. The unlocking process is simple - run the QuickPwn software on your iPhone and it'll be unlocked in minutes. It's ridiculous how easy it is.

Now that you've done the Jailbreak, it's time to get your iPhone to sell on eBay. I would recommend a 5 day auction, a good picture of your phone, and the original box if you still have it. The real selling point is that it's unlocked, so make that clear in the listing. Any GSM carrier with SIM cards will work! This will also allow international bidders to use the phone, so consider shipping internationally to make the most money. It's likely that your phone will sell to someone from your country anyways, but the international bids really boost the end price. To help that exposure, also check the option to display your auction on international eBay sites.

A lot of iPhones sell on eBay, so when you're setting up your auction it will be to your advantage to use some featured listing options. These can help your auction stand out from all the others. There's several types of featured listings, but the $10 option (to make your auction appear at the top of the search results) is probably good enough. You can add more options, but be aware that they increase the price. Use some strategy and save yourself money.

Don't list anything but the bare minimum accessories with your phone. Include the cable to connect it to your computer and maybe the headphones. If you still have the original box, throw that in as well. Make sure to include it in the photos for the auction. Any other accessories you have (a dock, the wall charger, or even the headphones) can be sold separately in their own auctions. They won't sell for much, but every little bit helps.

If you played your cards right, the auction will end at roughly the price of the latest model iPhone. Experienced users who sell on eBay have even been able to get a high enough price to upgrade to a larger size. Check the completed listings to see what worked for them. If you have difficulty trying to sell on eBay, consider an alternative site like Craigslist. There you can post your phone for a high price and wait patiently for a buyer to come along paying cash.

Still, the Touch's limited storage capacity makes it a difficult choice when held up to higher capacity products like the iPod Classic or Archos 605 WiFi.

DesignFor better or worse, the iPod Touch is clearly the iPhone's baby brother. Like most products that roll out of Apple, the Touch shows the love of committed designers, hardware engineers, and usability experts. The iPod Touch measures a slim and pocketable 4.3 inches by 2.4 inches by 0.31 inch, with an all-metal-and-glass design that feels as expensive as it looks. Because nothing will ruin a portable video player faster than a gouge across its screen, we're happy to see that the face of the Touch uses the same scratch-resistant glass found on the iPhone. Most users will still want to buy a protective case, however, since the iPod Touch feels a little fragile and the back is covered with the glossy, scratch-prone, smudge-loving chrome exterior common to most iPods.

There are only two physical buttons on the iPod Touch: a button on the face of the player used for calling up the main menu; and a screen deactivation button found on the top-left edge of the case. The iPod Touch is controlled largely using an icon-based touch-screen navigation menu nearly identical to the iPhone's, but with greater emphasis placed on music, photo, and video playback.

The two design details that distinguish the iPod Touch from the iPhone are the downward-facing headphone jack and volume controls. In the absence of dedicated volume control buttons, the Touch gives users the ability to bring up an onscreen volume slider by double-clicking the main menu button. The same volume screen offers controls for playing, pausing, and skipping through tracks.

When it comes down to it, the iPod Touch's most unique selling point is not its feature set, but its interface. You can find products that offer more features, as well as higher quality audio and video performance, but you won't find any other product that can match the feeling you get using the iPod Touch interface. Remaining features such as a Safari Web browser, POP/IMAP e-mail, YouTube video portal, photo viewer, music player, video player, stock tracker, weather forecaster, notepad, and iTunes Wi-Fi music store still place the iPod Touch on the cutting edge for portable video players, however. In fact, at the time of this writing, the only product that can even compete with the iPod Touch's combination of a Wi-Fi-enabled Web browser, wireless music store, wide-screen video playback, photo viewer, and audio player, is the Archos 605 WiFi.

One of the few notable features that put the iPod Touch ahead of the iPhone is the ability to output video and photos to a television using an optional Apple AV cable, Universal Dock, or qualifying third-party video accessory. We are a little disappointed that the iPod Touch is the only iPod that does not support a generic USB storage mode, but we doubt many users will be upset by this.

Audio format support is unchanged from previous iPods. The Touch supports standard and purchased AAC, as well as MP3, Audible, WAV, AIFF, and Apple Lossless. Video format support is likewise unaltered from the H.264/MP4 files playable on 5G iPods, as well as the third-generation iPod Nano and the iPod Classic. The Touch supports video resolutions up to 640 by 480 at 30 frames per second.

Beginning with firmware Version 1.1.3, iPhone and iPod Touch users can now use Safari to save bookmarked Web pages as menu screen icons, providing quick access to commonly-used sites.

iTunes Wi-FiBoth the iPod Touch and iPhone allow users to browse, preview, purchase, and download music from the new iTunes Wi-Fi music store. The store is limited strictly to music downloads--no movies, TV shows, podcasts, or games--at least, not yet. You'll have to hop onto an available Wi-Fi Internet connection to take advantage of the wireless music store, but once connected, you can search for any artist, album, or song in the iTunes catalog, as well as browse by genre, top sellers, featured artists, and new releases. Store purchases require you to enter your iTunes password as a security measure. Once the download is complete, the song is immediately available to listen to and will transfer to your computer's iTunes music library the next time you sync the device. The feature seems to work without any kinks. Even interrupted downloads pick up once a Wi-Fi connection is re-established.

Apple has also announced a partnership with the Starbucks coffee chain that will allow iPhone and Touch users the ability to access a Starbucks-branded version of the iTunes Wi-Fi music store when the device is used at participating cafes--without paying to use the hot spot. We doubt that anyone will purchase the Touch based on this added functionality, but it bears mentioning.

Firmware 2.0 improvementsLaunched in July 2008, version 2.0 of the iPod Touch's firmware adds support for many third-party applications available in the iTunes App Store. Developed primarily for the iPhone 3G, many of the iTunes App Store applications let you extend the functions of the iPod Touch to include features such as streaming Internet radio, sophisticated video games, and instant messaging. You can download App Store applications directly to the iPod Touch using a new App Store menu icon, or load them through iTunes after connecting the Touch to your computer.

Some of our favorite music-related applications for the iPod Touch include AOL Radio and Pandora, which let you stream music directly to the iPod Touch over Wi-Fi. Apple released an application called Remote which transforms your iPod Touch into a full-featured remote control for your computer's iTunes music library or a separate Apple TV system.

Wish listComplaining about the iPod Touch's lack of FM radio or voice-recording features feels like complaining about a Porsche's lack of cup holders. Still, there are some missing features on the iPod Touch that we would have enjoyed. High-capacity SD memory card expansion is at the top of our list of most-wanted features for the Touch. We could easily forgive any PVP's limited built-in memory capacity if the option of SD memory card expansion was available (the Archos 405 or Creative Zen are perfect examples of video players that give us the option to expand).

We'd also love to see embedded Flash support in the otherwise fabulous Safari browser. Whether video content from sites like DailyMotion or Viddler or music from Web sites like iMeem and Muxtape, embedded Flash media content is a big part of the Internet media experience. And while we're being picky, we also stereo Bluetooth transmission and the ability to use the Touch as an external storage drive like the iPod Nano and iPod Classic.

PerformancePutting aside the Touch's sleek design, futuristic interface, and innovative feature set, the quality of its audio and video playback rank only slightly above average. The iPod Touch reportedly uses the same audio chipset as the iPhone, but a different one than the iPod Classic. The Touch offers good audio quality, but not the stellar audio we were hoping for in an expensive product. The audio issue is compounded by Apple's long-standing history of preventing iPod users from defining their own custom EQ settings. Apple's 20 built-in equalization presets are handy, but there's just no substitute for rolling your own five-band EQ curve. With the Touch's emphasis on video playback, it would have been especially useful to have a surround-sound emulation effect similar to the Cowon A3's or Sony NWZ-S610's.

We've heard some complaints about the iPod Touch's video performance, but we found the overall quality to be good. Viewing angles are less than great, producing some color and contrast shifting from even slight tilting. We also found that the glossy glass screen kicks back a lot of glare. Still, despite the common complaints, the Touch is unquestionably the most video-worthy iPod yet.

Apple rates the iPod Touch's battery life at 22 hours for music playback and 5 hours for video. Our CNET labs found that the iPod Touch lasted an average of 23 hours for audio playback and 6 hours for video--which is better than expected, and more than adequate for a few in-flight movies.

Final thoughtsWe think the iPod Touch is a great product with lots to offer, but its premium price tag should give some shoppers pause. Don't assume that Apple's most expensive iPod is the best solution for your needs. If you're planning on watching a lot of video, high-capacity products like the iPod Classic or Archos 605 WiFi will allow you to load entire seasons of your favorite TV shows. Also bear in mind that if you're not around an available Wi-Fi network, features like the Safari Web browser, Internet radio, e-mail, iTunes Wi-Fi music store, and YouTube video portal won't mean much at all. While the iPod Touch may not be the slam dunk we were hoping for, it is an unquestionably cool product that continues Apple's legacy of sleek, innovative design.

How to Get iPod Touch/iPhone Firmware 3.1.2 and JailBreak it for 1G,2G,3G Blackra1n

You will need newest iTunes to work. -/itunes/download/

Ok lets get started.

SYNC your iPod/iPhone BEFORE STARTING.

!!!UPDATING YOUR FIRMWARE WILL ERASE EVERYING!!!

Firmware

-To get the firmware go to/iPod/firmware/

-Go to the bottom section "iPhone / iPod touch"

-Click the little arrowing thing / the Dropbox.

-It will open alittle selection thing, look for your type of iPod/iPhone.

-After you find your type of iPod/iPhone .

-Select the "iPod/iPhone,"1G,2G,3G"(3.1.2/7D11)

-Click Download after you selected it.

-Best place to download it is your Desktop

-If it is a .rar file or a zipped file-

-Change the name toiPod2,1_3.1.2_7D11_Restore.ipsw

(or just add .ipsw at the end)

If you don't know how to rename, right click the file and click rename, or properties.

-Okay, now your done with the file.

Now, plug in your iPod andopen iTunes

-Note-You will need to update your iTunes in order for it to work.

On iTunes go toDEVICES and you should see your iPod/iPhone.

Open you iPod/iPhone and go to the Version section.

If it say Check for Update, check it and then cancel if it ask you to buy.

-Now hold Shift (on the keyboard) and click Update (While holding Shift)

-It should pop-up a file selection.

-Locate your file or in the search box, search iPod2,1_3.1.2_7D11_Restore.ipsw

-Click it/Open it

-It should start updating for you, it should take a couple of minutes.

After it finish loading, you should have 3.1.2. Firmware.

Jailbreaking (Tether)

Warning: If you use this way to jailbreak you CAN'T play jailbroken apps!!!

You can only use 3rd party apps, Cydia and the apps you can get with cydia.

BUT YOU CAN'T GET APPS FROM APPULOUS

Only apps Cydia have.

Okay lets begin, this is the easiest way to jailbreak it and the only way I know it works.

Go to /

On the bottom of the page select your system Flag- Windows, Apple -Mac

Click it and it should start downloading. Should download on Desktop.

After downloading plug your iPod/iPhone.

Run the program blackra1n

When it open click Make it Rain

Then it should start loading.

Shortly after it is done, your iPod should be jailbroken.

On your iPod there will be a blackra1n logo.

You can install cydia and rock there.

Hello, I will show you how to Jailbreak the iPod Touch 2G. Window Xp

WARNING! ALL of you data on you iPod will be ERASED, Back it up on iTunes. Your warrenty will be expire if you Jailbrake your iPod, but your warrenty will come back if you restore it back to the original iPod.

Programs Needed

-iTunes - /itunes/download/

*Download and install

-Quickfreedom -/download.php?y5ytjc0tfgy

*Download and install

-2.2.1 iPod Touch Firmware - /iPod/firmware/

*Go to website, go to theiPhone / iPod touch section

*Press the arrow pointing down, Select iPod touch 2G (2.2.1/5h11a)

*Press Download, download to your Desktop

Now you have everything you need to jailbreak you iPod.

TurnOFF Auto-open for iTunes, when you plug in your iPod.

1.Open Quickfreedom

2.Click Jailbreak iPod

3.Cick "Install LIBUSB" and install it

4.Click "Bowse..." go to Desktop and click the firmware.

5.Now there should be two check marks, "LIBUSB Installed" and "Original 2.2.1 Firmware - Found"

6.Now press "Next" button

7.Now on top Check "Installer" and"Use Custom Logos" (Logo is OPTIONAL)

*If you check logos, click "Change..." to pick you logos.

8.Click "Create Firmware" this should take some time 5-10 Minutes.

9.After it's done, Click "Next"

10.Put it in DUF mode. (Press DUF Instructions or follow my.)

*Plug in iPod

*Turn off and then unplug it from the computer.( Leave the cord connected the computer, just take out iPod)

*Plug it in and hold the Power Button and the button Home Button about 10 seconds

*Release the Power button. (The one on top.) And hold home button for about 30 more seconds.

*Now it should be in DFU mode.

11.Press "Start Pre-Jailbreak". (Your iPod screen should turn white.)

*Wait untill the screen turn white.

12.Open your iTunes.

*There might be a pop-up and say your iPod is in recovery mode, and stuff, it's notthing, close it.

13.Hold SHIFT key and click Restore on iTunes.

14.Now select the "coustom" firmware on your desktop.

15.Now it should be restoring.

*It will take quiet some time.

16.CONGRATZ! Your iPod Touch is now Jailbroken.

If failed or frozed leave it for 2-3 minutes and then shutdown your ipod and reopen it. If your screen is frozen, hold the home button and the power button, and wait for it to reopen.

If you dont like your Jailbroken iPod just restore it using iTunes.

How to get free Apps, after jailbreaking your iPod.

-Using just your iPod Touch

*Open Installous

*Browse through the apps, find one you will like.

*Click it.

*Scroll down untill you see some download links.

*Click any link, press the download button on the page.

*There should be two options Install and Download, pick install.

A History of Candied Apples

For thousands of years, fruits of all kinds have been "candied," primarily for preservation purposes. During the renaissance, it was very popular to candy both orange peel and gingerroot. This made them palatable to children and adults, but also made it possible to keep them for long periods of time and also to ship them over long distances. The process of making hard candy is also thousands of years old. Almost from the moment that man was able to put sugar over fire, did he discover the process of candy making. It wasn't until the early twentieth century, however, when a New Jersey candy maker by the name of William Kolb made his first candied apple. This combination of hard candy making technique and preservation of an apple presented on a stick immediately caught on, and soon candied apples were found all over the New Jersey board walks. The phenomenon spread across the country, then around the world.

The science behind a candied apple uses the same functions and chemistry in any hard candy making process. The chemistry behind sugar and the heating of sugar is all about exact temperature. In any cookbook that has candy recipes, you will find references to things like "softball stage," "soft crack stage" and "hard crack stage." These are all references to a heated sugar solutions reaction to different specific temperatures that it can reach. The higher the temperature a sugar mixture reaches, the harder and less pliable it will be when it cools back to room temperature. This is because, as a sugar crystal heats up, the structure of the crystal comes more and more undone, almost like a sweater being unwoven. When the mixture cools, the sugar recrystalizes, but in a much more uniform and solid structure. So, it stands to reason that if a sugar solution is heated to a temperature that is higher, more of the crystals will come undone, and the structure it forms when it cools again will be harder. This is how hard candy is made, and the temperature range in candy making terms is called "hard crack." Once the candy maker has a solution at "hard crack" stage, apples on sticks are dipped into the solution and set aside to cool. This will form a hard, candy coating on the outside of the apple.

Candied apples, and derivatives thereof can be found all over the world. While the first candied apple is said to have been created in America, the candied apple, proper, is not as popular in the U.S. now as it is in Germany. The caramel apple, which is made in a similar way, is much more popular in North America. In England, candied apples are made, but are called "jellied apples" or "toffee apples." Candied apples are also popular in South America, where they are also made and sold primarily during the Christmas season. The candy coating given to most candied apples is often flavored and colored red, to accentuate the red skin of the apple. Cinnamon is often paired with apple, and it has become the flavor of choice for most candied apples.

Different areas of the world regard the candied apple as a signifier of different seasons and holidays. In Germany, candied apples are sold around the Christmas season, whereas in the U.S. candied and caramel apples are more synonymous with Halloween, autumn and harvest time in general. It is typical to see a candied apple or two in the Halloween basket of an American child, where in Germany one might be found stuffed into a child's stocking hanging by the fireplace. The reason for the earlier time frame of the American candied apple is due to its tie in with the apple harvest in the North Eastern parts of the U.S. Like the Thanksgiving feast, many Americans see the candied apple as an embellishment of the fruits of the harvest from the fall. In Europe, there is not the same kind of massive apple harvest as there is here, making the cinnamon flavored, bright red apple more of a symbol of the shiny, red bulbs that decorate the Christmas trees around the world.

If you have never had a candied apple before, be careful the first time you bite into one. Many people who innocently pick up a candied apple on a board walk or in a candy store expect the same texture and give as a caramel apple. This is not the case. If you bite into it with too much vigor, you may seriously damage your teeth and gums. The candy coating around the apple is HARD candy, after all. This is not to say that the candy must be removed and eaten separately from the apple, itself, but a little caution in your approach will make for a much more satisfying candied apple experience.
